Man of Snow

A poem about a snowman :D

There is a certain mindset

We Men of Snow must have

We are made

Cherished

Forgotten

Then rejoin the earth

Until we rain back down again

 

Each time we are reborn

We see new worlds

New faces

New memories to join the old

But always forgotten

Replaced by new men in the next snow

 

Sometimes

I am built facing the window

Always watching

All the fun I can't enjoy

Because warmth will not agree with me

 

But even so

When it's twenty-two below

I look towards the window

And seeing the joy of my makers

Always makes me feel

So

Warm

I find this poem to be very charming! I love the feeling I get when I read this-- warm, interestingly. I always enjoy reading poems in which inanimate objects are personified. There is a lot I love about this poem, but this is my favorite line; "Because warmth will not agree with me". I love the way it does not just say, "I will melt if I get over 32 degrees" or something like that. The language is wonderfully descriptive. I also quite like the rhythm of the piece-- I enjoy the way it flows and then breaks up here and there. Kind of reminds me of snow falling. Bravo!! Excited to read more of your work. :-)
