"Why do you cut?"   June 20, 2010 - September 30, 2010

Reading and Deliberating

Details

The question is asked enough times, in words or silence, and there is not enough understood about the topic (sadly) outside of people who actually do it.
Write a poem that answers the question, "Why?" The poem/story/chapter that most moves me to tears, that is the most powerful and sad and imagery-rich will win. Honesty is a powerful thing, I want to read raw, gripping, unhesitating words. Don't be afraid to write whatever, it's a poem no one will know whether or not it's true.

*No poems about suicide. Self harm and suicide is NOT the same thing.

Prizes

Spreading awareness to people who judge people who self harm; help people overcome this problem by letting them know they're not alone; also, much less important, satisfaction that your poem's best.
