Ozian Origins  November 2, 2012 - November 20, 2012

In "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," we know that Dorothy lives with her aunt and uncle in Kansas. But why does she live with them instead of her parents? For that matter, why is the Cowardly Lion so frightened, and the Wicked Witch so wicked? How did they all come to be? This is the question I would like you to answer.

I want you to write a story about how any character from the original Oz books came to be. You could write about any character, from Dorothy to the Wicked Witches, or even Aunt Em and/or Uncle Henry, if you'd like. You can write in any genre of your choosing, and you do not have to be entirely faithful to the original books.

The only real requirement is that the chosen character must be from one of the original books by L. Frank Baum.

While not a requirement, I do ask that you try to keep it PG-13.
