The Art of Summary  July 31, 2009 - August 25, 2009

Writing your novel is all well and good, but if your summary doesn't catch the interest of potential readers, well, you're in a predicament. This contest is all about the summary.

Write a summary! It can be about a book you're writing, one you've already written, even one that doesn't even exist. Just take into account the prize, if you go with that last option. It would be a shame to win, and the prize mean nothing for you!

I will be choosing the summary that fascinates me the most to be the winner. I'm looking for intrigue, imagery, emotion, humor, all depending on the type of book, of course. The summary that makes me want to read the book it depicts the most will be the victor!

Now, for what you've all been waiting for: the prize. I dabble in Photoshop quite a bit, and I'm decent with it. The winner of this contest will recieve a custom made "book cover" based on his winning summary. I will design it to the best of my ability (using stock photos/original drawings) so you can be proud to show it off to your WC friends.

I plan to make this contest a regular thing so, if you don't win this time, no worries! You have next month to try again.

Just to keep everything organized, write your summary under the "Story" category and submit it as such. I'm setting that as the only type of writing that will be accepted into the contest. Limit one per person, so make it good! Thank you!
