Last stand

Last stand

A Poem by G.A. Grim

The sword is heavy in his hand

As he gazes across the field

He feels like more than just a man

For he knew he would not yield

His armor is dented and torn

But he kept his faith as his shield

This is the reason he was born

For he knew he should not yield

They said he could be free

No cause for his sword to wield

Just give to them the knee

But he knew he could not yield

He had seen his brothers bleed

As their fates were being sealed

To fight he wished there was no need

But he knew they would not yield
