Truth To Deuce

Truth To Deuce

A Poem by [deleted]

Imagine if Taylor talked to Drew

Those are the words I said to Deuce

He said all along that he kinda knew

Didn't mention at all that he loves me too

What I see in his eyes is the real truth

I'm the girl who he'll never get to

I'm the girl who he never meant to

I'm the girl who told him, "Truth is..."

Thank you for loving me enough for me to go

And when I say thank you, I do thank you,

But I don't really mean it quite so

Cuz I'd rather be with you, see with you, all this world holds

So when I say thank you, I do thank you,

But you won't ever know

The smell of my soap on the pillow I sleep with

That I wrote an ode to the scar under your chin

Which stories you've told that I'd like be repeated

The taste of my lip balm, on me, when it's needed

The levity your heart could feel if you'd let it

That the morality of actions are found by the intent

A person worth fighting for, fighter should win

But some things, like real love, are heavenly gifts

Thank you for hating me enough for me to go

And when I say thank you, I do thank you,

But I don't really mean it quite so

Cuz I'd rather be with you, See with you, all this world holds

So when I say thank you, I do thank you,

But you won't ever know

Exactly what moment that I fell for you

It was during one summer at a party you threw

The feeling of finding me keeping your home

How much I believe in you - won't ever know

The reasons my memory won't leave you alone

The connection between us is something untold

His heart can hear my pleading,

But his mind, a loyalty, leading

He's the boy who will not know

Thank you for changing me enough for me to go

And when I say thank you, I do thank you,

But I don't really mean it quite so

Cuz I'd rather be with you, see with you, all this world holds

So when I say thank you, I do thank you,

But you won't ever know

No you won't ever know

The mate to your soul
