San Salvador

San Salvador

A Poem by Alistair (Ali)
"

emerging from sleep, I heard a Blackbird on the rooftop, and I could have sworn I heard it flute the words "San Salvador"...

"
There is alchemy in  Blackbird song
an opal paean through early doors
of infant sensing
Sprung limpets of the broad leaf crowns,
Will, heliacal, from chimney spires,
A crocus bowl of canticles
unwritten in the Latin blush.
of uncorrupted eloquence.

There is prophecy in blackbird song
from red Victoriana glance
those rippled satin auguries.
Sloe philharmonic oracles
untie the mellow chords of rest,
to sing as they have always sung,
in allegories of days to come
beyond the headstone houses.

Your eloquent and lovely words fly across the page like the blackbirds you so lovingly write of...the first lines of each verse are magical and every lyrical line just soars. You are a true Wordsmith with avian muses that lift your soul. I never saw a blackbird, until I read your poem. “San Salvador”- i hear it...Kudos!

Yes, I am nodding in approval! You use some wonderful words and I love the sentiments, especially 'In allegories of days to come, beyond the headstone houses'. The blackbird has the sweetest song, and I think we would all like to know what he is REALLY singing about! I enjoyed this poem, set me up for the day as I look out of the window, and do indeed see a blackbird in the tree outside!
