My Grandfather within

My Grandfather within

A Poem by Shweta

Misty soft eyes, scanty hair,
lovely chin of my grandfather within
Teasing and sometimes fighting,
couldn't get him enough when he began pranking

Wise words, engaging and always attentive
never backed down when people turned away
Always gave some to me when he ate
reckon that's love to me and him the most
Saved me when at fault
and calmed me down when angry and mad

Away I was
we spoke now and then
"Missing you.." his words conveyed without telling
More he never fussed to me to come down,
with studies he never compromised

Gone he is after the last farewell when he could not rise to play
The moments stayed only in my heart with memories still afresh

Nothing to look forward to now when I visit that place where my grandfather used to stay and play
Now my eyes say I miss him without conveying but surely reaching him

I'll tell you something, I can deeply understand your grief since I too lost my grandpa! I can feel the feelings that went into writing this poem I am extremely sorry for your loss and may god give you strength to endure the hard times!
He will be watching you from above and will be proud of this masterpiece!
