It's Time to Let Go

It's Time to Let Go

A Poem by Joseph Mulpeter
"

this poem was inspired by the passing of my best friends uncle. There was a tree planted in tribute in their back garden.

"
I'm no longer a shadow,
nor am i awake
i'm filled with the light
our maker gave to take
he's up there he is!
he wanted you to know
i'm giving you my love,
it's time to let go
i was evicted from this earth
like that time in our first place
when the only thing we took with us
was each other and a suitcase
we made it on our own
with very little help
just one good friend and a loan
and were back to our old selves
you weren't there to say goodbye
but you were there to say farewell
i will always be nearby
so please don't start to dwell
under a tree
is where i want to be poured
deep in the soil
somewhere new to explore
i'll bring new life
to that tree that you've named
not only in afterlife
will i seize to remain
i may not be here
in which i agree
but my ashes you sprinkled
are the life of this tree
my arms are the branches
my heart is the growth
my legs are the roots
my body is the trunk
next time your outside
looking up into the tree
listen closely to the singing bird
because it will probably be me

I like this. It reminds me of the day after my grandfather died, my mother heard two chirping birds right outside the window. She looked at it in a poetic way, stating that they were most likely both my grandparents. But anyway, yes, good work. Very clear imagery and very clear meaning as well - has a good balance between being poetic and being very clear as to what the poem is about. Nice job!

The tree will grow and give fruit as the memory will keep bearing fruit. Those who pass and not forgotten must have had good impact on others. This was a great tribute...Excellent...:0........................
