Tried and Tested

Tried and Tested

A Poem by AnonymousPoetry

Tried and tested
Time and again
And, yet again
Today might be different
I say to myself every now and then.

The sun shines sometimes,
The clouds growl sometimes,
The rain falls all the time
From where I stand in the square.

Does the sky shy away so quickly
From where you stand?
Or, does it glisten and laugh at your pride?
Does it remind you of the short past we had?
Or, do you not care at all?

Shared your heart and stole a few laughs,
Found you stealing a glimpse,
Whilst I was trying to catch mine,
Promised to connect when convenience arises,
And the time came for me to
leave as the sun rises.

I left in hopes of keeping this connection,
And, we did connect...here and there,
As time grew older and leaves withered,
The strings of our connection
became bleak and weak
And smothered in blood,
I give up some more day by day,
But i want 'us' to be possible,
So I prey for it anyway.

I miss your soulful smile,
And that stupid glimpse,
How I wish I told you that when
I sat right next to you,
Life might not repeat itself,
The stars might not collide again,
But I whisper to myself till this day,
Hoping to find you somewhere
in this world again.

I see you in almost every face,
But then I throw away
The thought singing
its just a phase,
Don't turn to the square,
No, not again,
But, what can I do?
You tell me
Where will I find someone like you again?
