The Invisible Car

The Invisible Car

A Story by Austin Wentworth

She tried not to look at the faces glaring at her.
Gripping onto her purse she ran through the confused crowd.
Wondering why every terrible thing happened to her.
First her Father, then her Mother, and now this.
Once outside she collapsed in car her beautiful white dress now torn
from the roses covered in ice being used for decoration on her day.

She started driving as far away as possible as fast as she could.
Her phone was ringing, but she ignored all her calls.
The only way out of the city was over a bridge.
She drove faster and faster until she was on the bridge.
The tears in her eyes made it hard for her to see
especially now that the sun was down.
Knowing she could leave everything behind if
she crossed the bridge she gave one final effort.
Then it happened another tragedy to wrap up
her last day.

The Newspapers called it The Invisible Car,
but anyone who was there knew.
