A Gold Mine in my Backyard

A Gold Mine in my Backyard

A Poem by Ralphy
"

Sometimes you just have to wonder

"

Gold Mine in my backyard

There must be a gold mine in my backyard
As I glance upon the land
I can almost see
The picks and shovels leaning against the tree
From the marking of these shallow holes
I’m not sure if they found gold
Carefully shifted in a pan
Full of holes to pass the sand
Water runs freely to make a case
It’s hard to imagine, what is at stake
I guess I need to lend an ear
To the new profound engineer
Since I don’t remember, giving the rights
For the excavation on this sight
In the inspection I did see
A round object that intrigued me
A shining, beautiful, little pearl
That was dug up by, this persistent squirrel

I like the twist here. It was really amusing.

Good form and choice of words. Well painted and described.

A good piece

I am glad the squirrel found it, not the engineer! Mother Earth, funny how society wants to build every thing up so we have not a single place of shear serenity left.

Nice poem with a humorous closure.

Love the way, you treated the squirrel as a claim jumper upon your land. Leaving unfilled holes, where s/he has abandoned after failing to find that elusive nut. As previous reviewers have mentioned, your poem flow and carries the reader until the very end. Get ending for the poem too. Thank you for sharing this poem with us.

You have a way with endings. I liked this poem. It had a great rhythm and rhym scheme.

The ending was cute, and the rhyme was nice... but it was kinda dull. I mean, it's okay...but... I dunno. Also, there was a typo in the line "For the marking of these shallow holes", change For to From.

This is great.....I couldn't help but chuckle at the end.

The flow and rhyme were excellent --- a great poem for spring!
