A snowy night

sudden change

A Snowy Night

This year, the soft fluffy
snow has drifted across
the land, to new worlds
who seem to welcome it
with open arms…
the whispering sounds
beneath their feet,
have wakened the frightful air

The clouds whoosh by leaving a
frigid chill in its wake,
that crystallized like a layer
of frost coating a glass pane,
on a typical cold dewy morning.

The temperature dropped
like a freefalling eagle,
in chase of its prey,
as the ground thickens to crunch.

The updraft paints their faces red
while the flakes
placed a permanent smile
upon each lip,
and the sudden silence
they waited for,
fell upon deaf ears.

As the roaring fire is the sky
crinkles, each arm
of the flaming embers
reach the frozen ground,
embracing it like
a triangle sounding
with pings in breeze.

The crackling drowns
the morning rise…
a wall of fire skips across
the surface
shifting colors,
erasing evidence
of the previous night.

Some very nice descriptions of the snow. I think "waken" should be "wakened" at the end of the first verse to avoid tense confusion there.

Lovely, Ralphy. Be careful, you're tarnishing your Bad Boy image with this gentle write.

Ooohhh... nice one. I really like it because you ended on a different note than you began. You almost made it seem like a secret in a way, if You know what I'm saying... if not, thats ok. Well Done.
