Thunderstorm

Thunderstorm

A Poem by Beautifully Tragic xPoetry Queen

There was always something

About thunderstorms

That I keep feeling like I can relate.

The roaring boom of my heart

Aching in my own loneliness

As the clouds above me crashed

Over head.

I have seen too much,

Pain and misery not just in my life

But in others,

Who wear their hearts on their sleeves

Like me, every waking moment

Of every almost disappointing day.

As they write their own sad broken songs

Of their own painful memories past.

As their pain gets washed away

And cleansed by the torrential downpours

Feeling the overwhelming senses

Of freedom and peace at last.

As the rain whips against me

In the roaring winds, electrified

In the silence of after
All that is said and done

Of what was and could have been.

I'll never know the awnsers

To the burning questions

I have held within my soul for so long.

But there was always something

About thunderstorms that I love

And still feel like I can relate to.

but its through these thoughts that we gain clarity in the sunny days.

You know, this poem brought a greater understanding to why I feel I can relate to thunderstorms.. not so much the sadness. As i find them calming and refreshing. And i realized.. it's because I feel its cleansing. Thank you bringing this awareness to myself.

much love n' respect

Like the way you present the thunderstorm image,a kind of formal introduction to something that is very dramatic, a clever lyrical usuage.A good poem.

I think we've all felt the calm before the storm....then boom! Thunder strikes in our life. Just like the calm in the rain, it reminds us that a good cry is crucial to help purge the soul.

It's a very pretty poem, especially the last stanza. I would only change one thing, the past/present tense confusion in the first verse. "There was always something about thunderstorms (past)...that I keep feeling like I can relate (present)"
And there's a typo on the last one (answers).
Other than that, I really enjoyed it and thought it was beautiful :-)

To be able to write so honestly and open like this is a true testament to your character and your ability to voice your emotions so eloquently is a skill few of us could do, well done x

This brings an image of a girl looking out the window and observing the storm outside. A wonderful poem about something many can relate to. So often I have pondered upon the same things. Storms can really make minds ramble. Well done! :)

A wonderful weaving together of one's emotions and the storm, creating in effect a personification of nature as friend and ally. The way it whips at oneself, roars and flashes, resembles our own desire to find the answers ourselves. Great write!

I like the thunderstorms till one day. The thunder cut two of my trees in half in my yard. I didn't know the strength of thunder till that day. I believe thunder and emotion can roll together. The world is more alive in a thunderstorm. Like the spirits are dancing and more energy is awoken. I like the logic in your words. Thank you for a excellent poem.
