A Tale of My Ms Nightingale

A Tale of My Ms Nightingale

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

My take on the "Florence Nightingale" syndrome where one falls for someone who cares for them. It's also a take on the various types of love. You can love someone and not be in love with them, but they might not see it the same way.

"

Sudden bliss was found yesterday
I saw it in her eyes
She began to hypnotize my little heart
It's been so long since I've been-
Since I've felt the comfort of a stranger
I'm so scared I couldn't move

But she walked into my lovers dream
She came to me at night,
But when the lights turned on
She wasn't there at all
If only life could be a dream

I don't know the how or the why
She seems to have that something oh so special
She gave us all a little peace of her light
She wanders around us all
Trying to make us feel alright
And here I am mistaking her kindness for love
What type of man am I

As time goes on and by
I'll still be sitting here and wondering why
Can't she be my one and only,
But I guess that takes us to another story
Of why I take her kindess for love

Maybe because it's rare and pure
Maybe because it's make me feel alright
Or just maybe, just maybe
I've been burned so much before
That I gotta belive that she's the one
To bring ease to my little heart
And make it all right with the world again
