Where Are You My Queen

Where Are You My Queen

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

I am a king
Sitting upon my gilded throne
Watching the court dance and enjoy the feast
But here I am, like a watcher, out of touch
I sit here, constantly staring at the empty throne
Wondering when my Queen shall come

I yearn to find my Queen
She shall be an equal, not a trophy
I wish her to rule at my side, not behind my back
She will be a partner of choice, not circumstance
She will be everything to me, and all she wishes to be

But where she hails from is unknown to me now
If I knew I'd sail the seven see to greet her
If I knew I'd move the mountains just to see her
If I knew I'd made the birds sing just to amuse her
If only I knew

And could she be amongst this court
Could she be within the circle of friends assembled in my land
Have we met and I am unaware of her thoughts
Or am I a sad soul, holding on to lost hope
Of courtships that once showed promise

Where is this woman, so mystical in my mind
Her power shines as bright as the sun
And her eyes sparkle with energy like the stars
Her hair causes the wind to move just to see her hair flow
Her smile calms the most rabid of beast
And her touch is all you need
To know that the world is not so bad

I act as if this woman shall descend from the heavens
And even if she does not, I know it to be true
For she shall be as the stars sparkling in the night sky
She shall be those bright lights that always sail me home

As I sit here as a watcher king
A monarch of heavy head and empty heart
Staring at this empty throne
I wonder where she is
I wonder who she is
Will she ever show herself to me
Will I ever know the joy of such a love
Or shall I sit here forever waiting
For this Queen, for this thought, for this woman, for this love
That I have longed for all of my days
