A Poem by Dusty Hamilton
"

today was a devine day of creative juices, this poem is one of these inspired by a poem i read today, "Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein.

"

i let you go on a soft summer rain

with the wind in your hair

and the cool in the rain.

jumping the jasmine and leaping the lillies

hope will abound when your feet hit the ground

and the sprint-race starts with a gun and a sound.

oh the look of the world as you shake through the sand

of a dry riverbed in the hot endless heat

and the dry summer rain.

i saw in the storm in the look of your eye

when you turned in your step

and you said your goodbye.

i thought for a time of the way that you left

and how i'd remember of a soft measured beat

of the sand on your feet and how you'd been mine.

Author's Note

Dusty Hamilton
i was tempted to add a concluding stanza, but i think leaving the reader hanging may be better, hoping the last line to have an "awkward" feel
