Nine

What if we had nine lives?

You had nine

And I had nine

In one, we might be doctors

Saving lives one at a time

In another, engineers

Technology on an upward climb

in another, perhaps we're astronauts

To the moon and back, with a bag of rocks

Perhaps, in a fourth, we'd be professors

At Hogwarts, of course, giving magical lectures

In a fifth, I'm a zookeeper, you are my zoo

You are all my animals, each primped for view

A sixth, you're the hero, and I in distress

You save me from villains in overzealous dress

A seventh, I'm the hero this time around!

I search high and low for you to be found

An eighth you're the baker, and I down the row

The humble musician, my wares always in tow

The final life is the one we live now

Not happy or sad, just average

I know you and love you and see you each day

Though we might grow apart in life's passage

In each of our nine, we'd hope for happy endings

Though that will never be a promise

Maybe it's best we each just have one life

And live boldly and fully and honest <3
