Imperfect Creatures

Imperfect Creatures

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

faces of men whisper of experience between ideas that come undone............

"

The spinning of the Earth is never interrupted
for anyone.
Although, faces of men whisper of experience
between ideas that come undone.

Deep questions slide into all we know to be,
step right in.
Yet, we do not hesitate to look away,
when their hours begin.

Looking back at the summer of our lives,
were we supposed to hold hands?
Perhaps we never tried, or merely gave up
in the end.

Just another minute or two tries not too smile
when reading what’s been said.
We wait for justice, and then roll over
playing dead.

Settling in, we do not mention lessons
learned from each moment.
Is this not a step towards
what lies underneath our torment?

Are we running out of time and a foot behind,
because we do not care?
Do we only commit to that which comforts
our own air?

Sometimes I doubt if we closed our eyes for a second
we would see the entire picture,
perhaps because, we refuse to see ourselves
as we are,
Imperfect Creatures.

This Poem is very beautiful. The author undoubtedly is aware that all humans are imperfect creatures. They wouldn't be human if they were perfect, because our imperfections is what make us humans The sixth and seventh stanzas hit home for me

Do we only commit to that which comforts

Seeing oneself is probably the hardest thing to do. And when we are brave enough to face ourselves, we shudder at the truths we see...or else we misread them, because they say so much we cannot bear to hear. Sometimes, though, we see, and we accept...and then we can be more.

A really great look at the subject of self-inspection and self-knowledge.

Most of the time we do not want to see our own imperfections because we live with them day to day. We know our own flaws well and many of us don't take kindly to others pointing them out. I think we should sit back and relax, enjoy each others company and learn from others. This is a strong poem on how we try to bury our own flaws and point out others to make ourselves feel better.

If one was to close their eyes and look within to the truth of who they are they would surely shriek in fear of the truth. It is easier to live in denial as to being something we are not larger than life on top of everything and master's of all we see. your poem dares us to stop and to look at reality of what we are, what we have done and to stand up without playing dead or pointing fingers but simply to accept. Accept our place in this universe as not being king of all king pins. Your words are taking new forms taking on new challenges and I see it or you as growing it is a beautiful thing and this poem is simply art.

Why do we turn away from our imperfections when they are what make us human. If we face them then we can turn them into strengths as we learn from our mistakes. Whether they be hings we do or don't do. Great message my friend.

We need to get you a soapbox and a megaphone.
Hopefully you can wake humanity up from our ignorant slumber.

"Are we running out of time and a foot behind". Yes...we are.. I think when some see the entire picture right there in front of them...they become frightened and do what comes natural... they turn and walk away...x
This is a deep and intense write Neva..xx
