Night Is Set

Night Is Set

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

The introduction of night is set into play by the distant rumble of the farmer chasing his hay. Soon it is coupled with a melody sweet and the wind gives rhythm amongst a groove of pecan trees.

With the lowering of day, tree frogs do sing and the locust join in, telling us it is not yet time to sleep.

Their volume tones down and in queue with the shade, a barred owl takes voice calling night to awake.

A water loon doth coo, with the swift lowering of light and the fluttering of wings settle for the night.  With the tempo of leaves crackling low the east wind gives way letting the leaves pool on the forest floor. The creatures of night patrol there beats and the creatures of the sun repose to renew their strengh.

Wonderful stuff, I am an old fashioned poet who writes for kids mainly..I usually struggle to read what to me looks like prose. But the format should not be an issue...This is pure poetry, I could feel the heat...There should be music and a little croaking I feel

Such beautiful vivid images and sounds.
Reminds me of the times I spend at my cottage in the woods.
My little retreat away from the city.
Gorgeous writing dear poetess.

So well portrayed the image of evening setting in and m,erging to dusk and then night. Lovely use of the sound of the farmer fading into the sound of the animals and the sounds that become magnifed in the quiet.

I was wanting to make a sunset from sounds, I may add a bit to it I'm not sure yet
Hi Cherrie,
I can smell your farm.
I can see the farmers that live around you.
I can feel the tree frogs and the locust doing their chores.
I can sleep in your forest peacefully in imagination.
Great write.
