With Angels Wings

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

death, suicide

"

Black is the night, where I dream to fly

Deaf is the ears that should hear  me cry

Swift is the sirens that blaze to me

But not faster than the  calling

that sets me free.

This one got to me. I've been around the horrors of death and suicide, and from deep seated "calling" which is the chronic companion of someone who is very depressed. This poem really touches the essence of the debilitating state of mind for people with a terrible disease.

This is vivid and dark, with a haunting echo stirring the lines.. There is a lonely longing that cries out, yet the cry goes unheaded.. I was there for awhile, so it makes me ache just reading through.

I am very proud to say that this little gem of a poem came about by way of a chance remark by me. Cherrie took all of 3 minutes to write this. What a girl!!! So readers what is it like to be in the head of a suicide leaping from a building? I suspect that now you have a good idea? And there may be more to come from this one. I do hope so!

Hello Cherrie,

A beautifully crafted strong portrayal....It is that quick...and sometimes help can't get there fast enough. Very well done.

Regards,

Matthew

Oh my goodness... those last two lines knocked me off my feet! So intense and sad, but so simple and strangely calm. I loved this.
