Brave, Bossy and Bold

Brave, Bossy and Bold

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

the fears of a child dont fear the dark

"

I know you are afraid of the sounds in the rain

and you fear what is in the dark.

Don’t worry my child of those you do not know.

They are friends that you have not yet found.

I speak from the past, declare from each step,

your feet you will find

and on that day you will dance in the rain

and find rest in the shadows of your mind.

A mouse says you,  nay tis not so,

your voice sings pure and will age like fine wine

until you are

brave, bossy and bold.

I like the content and the execution here ... it is engaging and takes me back to how it was to be worried about the lions at the bottom of the bed ... but we can also read it as a childult because we all of us carry fears into adulthood which we sometimes need a calm and sure voice to help us deal with. I like the aliteraion and who can argue with BB&B?!

I wanted it to sound like a bedtime whisper.

okay, you sounded just like that
the phrasing of this really caught my eye, it spoke to me like my own inner voice.

How powerful these three words: "brave, bossy and bold!" This is the way that we should look at life's eyes! Loved your poem! *Mary*

Classic. Creating more than what is just written. Hard to do. Folklore archetypes, family and foretelling of things to come out of the fears of darkness and rain, when one comes finally into their own.
