Mind tortured Vet

Mind tortured Vet

A Poem by peter Duggan
"

How many Viet vets were tortured in the mind because of this pointless war started by our war mongering leaders

"

Mind tortured Vet

He’d tried to talk about his time

Spent on those Asian shores

But he learned to keep it to himself

Then never spoke of war

Until his skin erupted

And his bowels just bled, and bled

As torture filled his war torn mind

And voices filled his head

Then anger came into him

He would drink, then he would fight

His mind so filled with anger

Cause he weren’t treated right

Then he lost his family

They said they’d had enough

He was so hard to live with

And made their lives so tough

So now he is a hermit

Got a little piece of land

A dog, some dope, and lots of booze

And his thoughts of Vietnam

His body, how it shakes and trembles

He is frightened all the time

And for this mind stuffed soldier

The sun don’t ever shine
