In The Midst Of It All

In The Midst Of It All

A Poem by Country Girl47

In the midst of the raging storm,
I trembled with fear, as I heard
Rolling thunder passing through,
While treacherous lightning flashed.

It struck the electric wires, just
Across the street outside my home.
It suddenly became dark before my eye's,
I slowly sat down on the couch.

I began to feel for the matches so I
Could light the small candle on the
Clear crystal coffee table next to me.
After it had been lit, I began to cry.

Hail began to hit the window pane,
The force of the hail caused it to crack
In different areas, and when the high winds blew,
The window shattered to pieces on the floor.

The angry winds and violent lightning,
Lasted all night long.
Not once could I close my eyes to rest.
My pillow was soaked with tears
That rolled down my cheeks.
I slowly got up and looked out
My small bedroom window.

The sun was just peaking
Through the clouds.
The bright sun rays shined through.
A double rainbow set in the sky,
Could be seen for miles.

I finally felt calm, when suddenly,
I felt arms around me,
Then He said, "Melanie, you are never alone.
I am always here by your side.
There to pick you up, when you feel down,
There to wipe away those tears.
I promised I would never leave you or forsake you,
For you're a child of Mine."

I knew that was my Lord and Savior,
For He's with me through the troubled storms.
