Misdirected Focus (Poem)

Misdirected Focus (Poem)

A Poem by Damien Davison
"

I killed, I cleaned, I stuffed the dove...

"
Stepping in to the realm of chaos
Energy rampaging
Blinding my sight

Testing myself
All for what they caused
Enemies lighting the fires of fight

Once united
I fled from love
Her touch reminded me I was still weak

I killed
I cleaned
I stuffed the dove
Mounted it high to climb back to my feet

I made the choice to break free from these chains
Constricting and slowing my body's life force

I found my voice and I'm seeking change
Lifting this weight
Finally shifting my course

For those changing themselves for others
Shifting your focus
But not feeling right

Take back your pride and step out from cover
Lifting up hope and your wings to take flight

Author's Note

Damien Davison
I let my obsession (of becoming a tough and bad as I could just for the moment I would meet up with some guys again) ruin everything in my life... I accomplished what I sought out and I have the scars and people that shared some of those crazy memories with me to prove it... But was it worth it? No. I lost focus of my family. My new born daughter. Never let what someone else does or says affect you and just be you no matter what. Never fear.

In the barrios of Brazil a person encounters overcrowdedness, makeshift homes, improvised gardens, rooftop parties and a general feeling of lack of sobriety. Someone living there, would work hard to get in deeper.... its easier. To someone returning, he takes each view again, a step at a time. It appears less true, but it is more orderly. Stick to your guns buddy boy! A great write.

Wow, I'm in awe. The flow of this is just amazing, and I love the story that's being told. Every word fits together so precisely with the rest of the piece, and the whole thing is just beautiful in its own special way. This piece seems to be a deep look into the mind of the writer, making it that much more special - thank you for sharing.
