Be Free

Be Free

A Poem by Tasha
"

P.O.V. of a young pregnant woman all alone.

"
Everyday a bird sits on my windowsill,
I watch him and wish to be him,
I wish I could be free
And live my life the way I want to
But I'm stuck taking care of a baby
All alone,
The father is free and nowhere to be found,
Out living his life
The way he wants to
While I sit at the window
And watch life pass me by,
I always thought
It could never happen to me
I just ended up being another statistic,

I'm all alone wishing I could
Be free again,
But I know I can't because

I'm the mother of this baby
And its my responsibility,
I just dream of being free again
But I know it cannot happen
No matter how much I want it to

So I watch the bird fly away
And watch life as I know it
Tag along with him...

Touching, and saddening at the same time. The tale you tell is tragic and an all too common one, but the way this is written gives it a very bittersweet feel. The character dreaming that she was free, but only able to live vicariously through a bird is one of the most poetic thisgs that i have ever read. Absolutily brilliant.

I love all of you P.O.V works. Oneday it would be cool if you made them all into characters and put them in a book or something. Just a though :D

This is extremely touching. You write about some serious issues, and you do it well.

Powerful and optomistic. A desire for a different life in the future, out of reach, but only for now. Absolutley stunning. As always

Very nice poem. Nice flow, powerful meaning. THe story in this poem is wonderful and tragic, all too common in life though. How one decision can ruin your life and show you how sometimes the heart isn't always right.

You've done something great here by taking a small moment in this woman's life and only scratching the surface, but leaving the reader with knowledge there is more to this life we shall never know because for the most part, she is just another statistic that doesn't concern us. Good job.

this is very powerful and very relateable to me. i am only 15 so i was not the mother. but my father left my mother and i so i know how this can be. just know your not alone :) and i love how you used the bird as a sign of freedom, very nicely written!

So sad, but true and relatable to a lot of young women out there.
I like the use of the bird. It's a nice image of freedom.
Good work :)

Interesting write, I agree with Coyote and I also work with/know a lot of young ladies who have children and they are quite happy... but I do understand what you are trying to portray, so well done on that :)

You have created a world that many girls can relate to. This is poetry at it's best, which is to reach people on a new level.
