When I was a Jew ...

When I was a Jew ...

A Poem by Satoshi IroTzu
"

Long time ago I had this dream. Recently I talked with my friend about a world. He jogged my interest about Jews. It all lead back to remembering that dream. That is how this poem was inspired.

"
My daughter was tall
a lanky figure but strong
I was a little man , seventy of age

Atmosphere tense , colored in grey
it was a powerful clue
a bad to happen because I was a jew

Soldiers under Nazi banner appeared
daughter was afraid for me
to general`s sense I appealed
old man`s heart wished to sooth child`s fear

I was dragged outside
and sat next to others on a small curb
boots and uniform in black in front of me stood

A man struggling his nature
just to lose under dogmatic command
my deep blue eyes had a warm understanding glare

The end tapped my shoulder
it whispered a quick murder
last I saw with my sea iris
was  a barrel of luger

From an old dead man˙s body
in a puddle of blood surrounded by cold and screams
to a young man in a warm bed
having one of dreams

This poem was heartwrenching. It was vividly detailed, almost like it was a moving picture from a past life. By it's self it's a lovely poem, as a story it would satisfy my need for more.

Nothing moves me more than watching any documentary or movie about the Nazis ...... I never once could read poetry about it or read a book of what happened without crying .......

The Jewish people have suffered a great deal ..... And i have met quite a few
Very warm
And compassionate ...... and ever so kind embracing me and i am total stranger
Offering me food ...... I have met so many Jewish people in New York, Germany and Sharm el Sheik

Never have i been treated so well on several occasions by total strangers

So my heart goes out to them and the suffering they had gone through
No human should be under such vile unfairness ......

Thank you for sharing

People often forget the terrors of the past. I admire that you brought it up and aren't afraid of expressing yourself. You really captured the moment; the terror and protective instinct of the grandfather is almost tangible, and I believe that you dreamt about this, because that's the only way you could make all the emotions and factors coming into play so realistic and heartracking.
