The Fall

The Fall

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

It always begins
In the same manner:
In the middle of the
Fall, so that I have
No ability to stop
Myself from
                        F
                         A
                           L
                            L
                             I
                              N
                                G
Through the air –
The air, that I
Suddenly realize
Is not like the
Sky should be,
But is rather
Black and dark,
An unstoppable
Chaotic mess –
And plunging
Toward the
Unyielding ground.
My own vulnerability
Always strikes me now –
My own disability
To stop myself
Or slow the fall.
How did I get here?
I ask myself.
Did I simply trip –
Is this not my
Fault at all, but
A complete mistake
Of someone else’s
That I am now paying for?
Or did I jump –
Did I decide
That I could not
Live with this
Insecurity any longer?
Of course,
Before I have the
Chance to figure any of
This out, I awaken – scared and
Uncertain of the events that just occurred.

I don't usually like free form poems but this was pretty good.
