The Last Day of Spring

The Last Day of Spring

A Poem by Emily L

The Last Day of Spring
As soon as spring has sprung
her soft gentle days dance away into the mists of summertime.
But before she goes I must send her away with a kiss of gratitude
that she herself has lovingly granted me.
After the cold harsh days of winter
she floats oh so gracefully into the land we call home.
Every morning her sweet birds sing me awake with a tune of hope
that relieves my worry and my ache.
The cool yet welcoming air slips through the cracks of my windowsill
and fills me with the smells of rainy dew and natures breathe.
Her breathe awakens my cold and cranky bones
an motivates me to dance with joy and youth in my innocent soul.
The birth of flowers just enlightens me
with a sight so fair and so pretty.
Her pets return from hibernation.
I say hello to the rabbit and the fox that tend to their spring babies.
The trees shake their limbs and feel the soft breeze throughout their wise souls.
The trees will learn and see much...more than we'll ever know.
As I soak up this merry day
I smile to myself
and carry on through this lovely spring day.

My mom likes to write almost all her spring poems with the line about spring having sprung" so I smiled that u said it like her. This is an awesome refreshing tribute to spring and it's sights and sounds that u remind us of so poetically. Even if I live in lands where it seems to be spring forever so I wish to see exotic snow and cold weather.
Kudos to your writing skill.
Soo nice to read from u again, Pleez do write your thoughts/comment under my newest poem too, interaction via poetry is my way to say hi poem pals always.
