Out

Out

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

The loss of hope.

"

Flames dance

in her miraculous eyes,

braving the very obstacles

of her life.

She is a hero

in her own world,

courage growing with every fall.

But then out.

Her energy draining,

eyes retaining a soft glow,

and then out like a light.

Author's Note

E.V. Black
An old poem of mine. There was some stuff at the end that I cut out because the poem seemed fine this short. To me, it made more of an impact.

Not every hero prevails, like we wish them to do so badly. That is the unfortunate reality of life. :( But what we can do is try to win in the midst of all those fallen heroes. We can become heroes ourselves.

I'd like to say something other than that this poem is pretty well-written but you've already said enough in your author's note. Depicts how quickly the triumphs of a person throughout their life can quickly become meaningless in the face of death. The repetition of "out" is a little awkward, but nothing huge. Great job.
