Watching a ShadowA Poem by DrDIf you meet a man watching his shadow Remembering when it was shared And if he tells of wayward wonders Of love and loss and longing Then listen The message will not be his alone to tell For ‘tis the dream of countless others
I once knew love by her name, he’ll say I knew her touch from a thousand others Her feelings I felt, her thoughts I perceived She defined all I ever hoped to be Then after She was gone as if she had never been And somehow she took me with her
I sense the empty space beside me Wait! Can you hear her upon the wind? The wisp of perfume, the darting glimpse Oh God, her fingers have coursed my cheek. Then when My eyes are open I see it’s only you And I will walk away, watching my shadow © 2014 DrDReviews
