Believe it or not

I am open-minded about many things, including the supernatural as there are definitely things out there waiting to be discovered...or not. I always like to quote Neil deGrasse Tyson as a reference of what I believe: "Life doesn't exist anywhere but Earth? That's like filling a cup with ocean water and saying there aren't any whales."

Sure, I do keep skepticism as a friend, but there is one thing in my life that I have yet to explain as I can't.

I do not have night terror or sleep paralysis, but I think I may have once as well as having another strange sleep disturbance. In my first experience, I was at the point of waking up from sleep early in the morning to get ready for school, but when I opened my eyes, all I saw was darkness. Now I wear glasses, but I'm not that blind.

For a few seconds, I kept fluttering my eyes in panic as I couldn't see anything in my room. Also, I had the strangest sensation of nothingness and a hollow emptiness. Fear and terror were not something I felt, put panic. Everything felt numb, but I could still move. Eventually, sight began filling my eyes and immediately, I got up confused at what happened. Did I temporarily die and saw death? What did I experience? To this day, I still do not know.

Now my second experience in sleep disturbances was what I could only guess as hallucination, but I vividly remember experiencing all my senses and nothing could possibly mess with it. One morning, I was awoken by my door opening just a crack as I heard it open and I'm a pretty light sleeper.

Peeping my eyes just a tad, I was facing away from the door and looking at the wall where the light from the hallway fell. I could see a shadowy figure blocking some light as I saw its outline on the wall. At first, I thought it was my dad as he usually gets up first to go to work around five in the morning while the light wasn't out and it was around early spring.

For what seemed like minutes, it was a stare down between me and the shadow that I assumed was my dad who probably was only checking on me. However, as the sun started to rise, I realized: Maybe it's not my dad. I was filled with a tense feeling of fear as who else could it be? My family was still asleep.

When I finally mustered enough courage, I peered over my shoulder to look at the door which had been closed the entire time. No crack to shine light in my room and definitely no shadows peering in. I'm feeling rather bewildered at this. Maybe I was still drowsy and hallucinated this whole time, but I have never had hallucinations and I don't suffer from any mental illnesses. Who knows?

Grammar is pretty good. A few missing commas (curse you, tiny punctuation marks of death), but apart from that, it looks fine to me. The pacing is good as well. It reads somewhat like a verbal story, like you might tell to a friend, but with the structure characteristic of a written piece, which is good. The content itself is spooky. I have had some weird experiences like this too. Even just being awake super late at night... I've been legitimately fearful before that I would become so tired that I would start hallucinating. Fun! (sarcasm) But whatever happens, please do not get abducted by aliens. I would miss you.

Ha ha ha, thanks! About aliens, I did have a really weird dream where I legit felt as if I was being lifted up and when I woke up, I felt a slight headache. Weird, huh? All we know, I'm probably microchipped. (Kidding). Don't worry, I ain't going anywhere. I would miss being here in the Cafe with you and my friends here!

That's hilarious! Well, if aliens did also study me, they'd probably be too freaked out and never visit Earth again. Who knows? There's enough freakiness and weirdness in me to cover for fifteen people or more.
