Lost Princess

Lost Princess

A Poem by Geralyn Miller

She dances to silent symphonies

in lands that never were;

clad in silken draperies

in manner olde and fey.

She waltzes lightly

'cross fairy rings

betwixt the dusk and dawn.

Her life is storybook castles

and happily ever after.

Beautiful princess dream,

untouched by reality;

awaiting an imaginary prince

and a fairy tale romance.

Her spun-sugar world is cloyingly sweet,

and achingly fragile.

Soaring towers and airy spires

of fairy fantasy

will melt----

with the touch of a tear.

And still,

she dances to silent symphonies

in lands that never were.

Honestly- the name turned me off automatically. I've been the type of person who has always rebelled against the princess-y personalities in girls, and all of that stuff.
But, I adored this.

It's very simple- much of the imagery is familiar, but is presented with great eloquence and a refreshing point of view in some ways. And the theme of silent symphonies really grabbed onto me. I loved this piece.
This too was a winner in my contest- the piece I wrote inspired by this one will soon be sent to you. I have it posted up on here with a link to this one as well.

Thanks for the inspiration. Wonderfully written. :)

dreamy interior wistful landscapes~and yet there is an undercurrent of whispers of a haunted life that which has turned the princessa inward completely~ sweet madness in beautiful spires~ this is is the manner in which your poem sang to me ~ a brilliant world into which to escape the gritty madness of reality~
