When you Return

When you Return

A Poem by Sarah Flanigan
"

I wrote this as a reminder to myself.

"
When you return,
there will be no fanfare,
no welcome wagon,
no parade through town.

When you return,
there will be no crowd to meet you
no red carpet rolled out for you
no flower petals strewn at your feet.

When you return,
There will be no mobs lining the street to get a glimpse of you.
No old friends calling to make dinner plans
no party thrown in your honor.

When you return,
there will be dilapidated buildings,
crumbling streets,
evaporating sidewalks.

When you return,
There will be overgrown lawns,
condemned houses
and one rotting high school-still in use.

When you return,
there will be a broken hearted girl.
her watering eyes will stare into yours
and she will tell you to get out of her life forever.

When you return,
You'll remember why you left.

That's certainly a very heartfelt piece of your art. You seem to just capture the whole real nice moments of your fairy life in generalised words -- the words that speak the heart very well. Love's always been quite hearfelt to everyone whoever just dived into the pond of its infatuated pleasure.

"sometimes, love brings life so sometimes...
dark shades of memorably memorial nights,
sometimes it serves the emotionalism to hearts
so sometimes carried broken heartaches to vulnerable life
Vulnerable, of course, the love makes you
... when you're well unbound by its infatuated rides,
oh yes, sometimes it's sweet, sometimes much crisp...
o' these memories of old love, undisguised."

That's what your poetry makes me writing. Kinda interesting. Looking forward to reading your work! Keep writing.

What is crazy, is I knew a fellow chef and war vet who said something very similar to a 16 year old prep cook, it sent a chill down my spine. And I am please to say this brought back that feeling.
