I'm not much for dancing; but for you I did.

I'm not much for dancing; but for you I did.

A Poem by Jami Nicole

I still remember that look on your face,

Lit up by the lightning

As it flashed across the sky.

You told me you loved me

So please don't ever go.

We layed there in the park for hours,

All wet from the rain,

Talking about life among other things.

Hours passed until you walked me home,

Your hands in your pockets

And a smile on your face,

Leaning in to kiss me a we came up my walk.

We had the perfect night together,

Please don't ever let it end.

We danced there together

In the darkness of my porch,

Being watched through the window

By my father, eager for you to go.

As I slipped inside the door

You said those three magic words.

I snuck you one last kiss

Before you left me,

Walking away in the rain.

I run up to my room,

Smiling softly to myself and

Watch you until you fade away.

Then I danced with myself

In the way that girls do,

Pretending you were in my arms

And we were still on my porch.

So now you walk yourself home

With your hands in your pockets

And a smile spreading across your lips.

Author's Note

Jami Nicole
I'm not much for dancing, but for you I did because I love your handshake meeting my father. I love how you walk with your hands in your pockets, how you kissed me when I was in the middle of saying something. There's not a day I don't miss those rude interuptions.

I like how honest this piece is. When your in love there's always a first. And i like how raw and emotional evrything appeared.. Great imagery.
