And I

And I

A Poem by Mark
"

There is this one woman...

"
and I loved you
the day I saw you
outlined in chapel soft light,
quietly, you were sitting in a pew.

12 years old and struck in awe
Something about the way
your eyes pierced the truth
the set of calm in your face.

and we grew and all the time
I didn't know, but I knew
down inside, that place
that's empty and waiting.

and I lost you
and we went seperate ways
in long dazed, crazed
smoke and drink days.

and I thought of you
from time to time
eyes and the halo only I saw,
of your clear sight and heart.

and I will love you
until I've died,
even though we may never
walk the same ground.

Sometimes it feels like
I want to cut that part
out and throw it away.
Today, it just feels like...

What matters is not what
love makes us feel
but what love does;
the connection we can't break.

Love is - indescribable. It is the one thing that can completely shut down sound reasoning and cause your heart to beat out of your chest - longing - to be with someone you know, you know deep inside, that you have an affinity - a connection with.

While that is not all of love, that is certainly some of it, and it is definitely DEFINITELY worth the journey of the heart - to take the risk and open up to someone else.

Nicely written, Mark ! Here's hoping very happy trails for you and the ones you love ... ღ

Stunning! Love need not include the physical. When there is a connection such as you describe, it is never severed and no one can ever have exactly the same alliance with you. That sort of bond is forever strong. This is a tad melancholy, but the emotions are very honest and I enjoyed it. Lydi**

Thank you for reading.
This made me feel sad, a love that never had the chance to blossom and perhaps a connection that is only felt on one side? You have expressed the feelings beautifully though

Love does many strange things Mark, and when we break up or 'fall out of love' sometimes it can break us. An amazing write as always Son.

you can never "cut that part out" Mark, and loves does many strange things to us when it leaves..or is not fulfilled..
