Teach the World

Teach the World

A Poem by Jong Schrijver

I wrote this awhile ago. One night I was laying in bed just thinking and this poem kind of wrote itself.

You know today the world has gone astray
The views we have cloud all the truth,
Under skies filled with fog and uncertainty
Yet we play each other as fools, when we don't even know

It's almost like a civil war is playing out inside of us
We fight ourselves over what is wrong and what is right
We don't want to hear the other side of the story,
Because every person wants to be the one who is right

And when we finally discover that we are all right,
That there are no facts but only opinions
Then we can all  join together as one,
And teach the whole world that everyone is equal

Nice imagery. I love when there is a message in a poem. Very nice :]

I really love these kind of poems, they remind me of a couple of my favorite songs;
Same Direction-Hoobastank
Anybody There-The Script

It's annoying when people try and force what they think onto you...There's always three sides to a story; The right, the left, and the truth.

True. So, so true.

Very strong portrayal of a very important message in today's society. It flows pretty well, with the exception of the fourth stanza, which is just a bit off. I really liked the idea that we all have a civil war inside, because it's a very good point when we think about making choices. Excellent job.

An excellent message that you portray in so few words. The rhythm seemed pretty good. The part about the sky, did you mean "skies"?
