To Say Goodbye

To Say Goodbye

A Poem by Jqjohnson

You taught me many things I needed to know
But where do I start
I really wish that you didn't have to go
The timing of life, I can't understand that part

When I saw you in that bed, it broke my heart
I think about it all the time
Laugh that was contagious and your soul was kind
Still wishing you were here to see me grow

And I wish I would have said goodbye
We had the best of times
Picturing your smiling eyes
Gabriel's trumpet sounded heavenly chimes

I have but one regret
Conversations left on the table
You paid the Father's debt
Suffocating numbness; I wasn't able

To say goodbye
