Land Ho!

Land Ho!

A Poem by Judy Ponceby
"

Old school pirate's heart's desire.

"

Man the lanyard! Over the sea!
To lands unknown to you and me!

The wind blows south, my merry men.
The ale flows free, to heaven then.

To Sea, to find my heart aflame!
To Sea, to find the dragon's claim!

Salty air, on dark stormy winds
Fair, rock our ship, to pieces then.

Tossing freely, dancing wildly,
Spinning to the rhythmic pounding.

Passing time on deck and mast,
From the crow's nest, we hear at last.

Land Ho! Land Ho! Captain!
The very land that has been sought.

Rivers of silver, mountains of gold.
Paradise for Pirates, so I'm told.

Very authentic, I love it! Only one suggestion, it seems more piratey to be somehow to change the "over" in the first line to "o'er" , just a suggestion :) Great job on this piece!

With strategic rhyming and fast-pacing, this poem deftly conveys a sense of adventure. Impressively lyrical and stark-of-image, "Land Ho!" bangs and clangs its way into your heart.

I love this Judy! Awesome job, you've captured the perfect rhythm for this, and it has such a fun feel to it. Although it does makes me think of Johnny Depp for some reason....mmmmmm, I digress ;) Okay, very nice write!

Typical unabated washed poetry, i love it, it's nonelastic and fierce in it's delivery, well written, good job!

Rivers of silver, mountains of gold.
Paradise for Pirates, so I'm told.
Could be said of everything mankind seeks.
