Softer than the Rain

~ a love poem ~

Softer than a touch of rain or dew

that glistened from the clouds in tender skies

your hands, your lips, your caress, I knew

and yet, in your embrace, I felt surprise

 

As if the skies were woven with sunbeams

to tie warming ribbons around my heart

and carry me as lovely as a dream

to gentle storms that wait…when clouds depart…

 

I found it was like spring, the lights divine,

as each sunrise was golden for the one

who only bloomed, this rose upon the vine,

in your embrace and kissed with the sun

 

The greatest gift of all you took, my love

and still, I will always remember you

when storms fall like springtime from above

This is sensuality in writing and the tightness of the rhyme only makes it more intense. Very skillfully composed. 'sunbeam...ribbons' around your heart is really delightful imagery.
