Fading

Fading

A Poem by Lacey

Colors fading to black
Punctured lung
Unable to breath
Unable to speak
I reach to grasp a hold of something:
Anything
Unable to succeed
I lay motionless on the cool ground
And stare into the black abyss
And slowly fade to nothing
Wondering why nobody saw me
Nobody saw me suffering
Struggling to hold on to life
Nobody saw me giving up
fading away to nothing
Nobody saw the signs
They fell for the mask I wore on my face
They fell for my act
and now they all sit and ask why
Why would she give up
Why was she hurting
What was going through her mind
But it's far too late
And doesn't matter anymore
I'm gone
And the pain still lingers in the air
The thought that ran through my mind then
And now continues after I'm gone is
What was the point?
