An Old Man's Wish

An Old Man's Wish

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid

Will you dance with me?
I know I can't quite move
Like I used to,
But My Darling,
The sky is snowing,
And you are glowing,
So please
Join me for this dance,

Let me draw you close,
Like when my grip
On your waist was strong,
And your hair was chestnut blonde,

When passion filled our eyes
And we made love every night,
You,
My beautiful young bride,
And I,
Your handsome Prince Charming,

So My Love,
Dance with me,
As Nat King Cole fills the air,
And the Christmas lights
Dazzle on the lake,

Because the sky is snowing,
And you...
You are glowing,
And I wish for your head
To be near my heart once more,

I know I am not as strong,
I know my hair has lost all color,
And the passion...
Well My Dear,
I can honestly tell you
That I have never loved you more,

So dance with me,
My Darling,
My Love...
And grant an old man's wish,
To spend his last Christmas
In the arms of
The most beautiful girl in the world.
