It is pretty well known on my campus that people don't become English Majors for the money. And it seems to be an even more common fact that people don't become creative writing majors unless they have:

1) Done the freshman freak-out: "Holy crap! I am not going to get a job with this!

2) Accepted the possibility that he/she might possibly spend the rest of their life eating Ramen in a one room apartment.

and 3) Cannot deny that their passion for words and the art rules their thoughts and goals in life.

I am nineteen and am currently studying creative writing as my major. My goal is to learn how to approach the power and mystery of words. I do not wish to tame it or train it but merely create a familiarity; to become the best I possibly can be in honor of my Most High God and this art form He has created.
