Chasing Shadows

Chasing Shadows

A Poem by M. Kari
"

A song

"

Golden sunlight casting shadows
Shadows soft and lovely now
Now I see my love so clearly
Clearly she's in love with me

In the meadow beyond the river
We would meet and sing and play
Since the time when we were little
She was there for me all day

Golden sunlight casting shadows
Shadows soft and lovely now
Now I see my love so clearly
Clearly she's in love with me

On the day our vows were said
On the day that we were wed
Her love was golden and so pretty
Soft and lovely dressed in red

Golden sunlight casting shadows
Shadows soft and lovely now
Now I see my love so clearly
Clearly she's in love with me

My bride of times now spent and gone
The time has flown like wind and song
But you my love have shone so golden
Chasing shadows...

******************************* now you're gone...

Perplexing, this one. The refrain is driven home with it's repetition; four times. Perhaps symbolic of the four seasons of life? Someone near and dear or a fantasy; or both. It's hard to tell and yet the sentiment and emotion are undeniable. Tell me, M., did you pen this one with much difficulty?
