Words of wisdom for those who might choose to follow me

I know the words that are said, they were told to me long ago
I know the promises that are made, they were broken for me many times
I know the the future being painted, I was assured the same place in it

I know how I'm portrayed, the distortions needed to further the goal
I know how I'm perceived, the fear built into me enhances the flaws
I know how I'm treated, the blame assigned to trigger adverse reaction

I know your fear, and you will not be disappointed
I know your desire, and you will be unfulfilled
I know your belief, and you will find you were wrong
