Unbelievable

Unbelievable

A Poem by Mark Pearce
"

You're not going to believe this.

"

Unbelievable

“I can’t believe you’re not a rabbit,”
The spindly weeper said.
“With furry ears and springy bones
And a wintry, bunny sled.”

“I can’t believe you don’t like carrots
And parsley in your stew.
I can’t believe your bum’s not capped
With a poof-poof cotton ball, too.”

“I can’t believe you don’t like Picasso
And your nose doesn’t twitch in clover.
I can’t believe your big brown eyes
Are blue and grey all over.”

The spindly weeper ground his gums
Till a big ol’ smile broke through.
“But here you are, my good, good friend.
I can’t believe it’s you.”

Unbelievably silly. Good job of that!

This seems like an old friend, even if we did just meet. Whimsy and earthy. Two of my favorite qualities in a poem.

A little "Theodor Geisel" is always great and puts a smile on everyone's face. Humor goes along way in life as well as poetry.

This is a very refreshing poem from a lot of the depressing work that people put up here (I'm guilty of that, too.). I enjoyed it very much, the rhyme is natural and the rhythm flows well. One thing: "I can't believe you're your bum's not capped" - I think you just forgot to delete "you're." Once that's fixed, you should submit this to some of the contests on the site. They help out a lot in getting reviews and a bigger name in our quickly growing community.

What a pleasant surprise. Your poem brought a smile to my face. It evoked the poems my aunt read to me when I was child; and like most simple poetry it contains a universal truth. Well done. And welcome. Brenda

Mark, this is a lovely and whimsical piece that I really enjoyed and I'd bet children would love it in a book. I can just see the pictures to go with it! Wonderful write. Really like it.

Thank you for making me smile today. A good fun read and I think the kid in most of us with enjoy it too.

Will be smiling for awhile now.
