A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks
"

a poem about being a child

"

lights are bright

sounds are loud

there are always

new smells in a crowd

taste is intense

touch is real

I learn to be careful

of what I feel

I dream

I discover

I explore

and uncover

I learn something new

every day

I try to do things

my own way

I feel so much bigger

than this body I am in

it is hard to believe

that I fit inside my skin

I HAD TO COPY AND PASTE TO SEE THE WORDS...A BIT HARD TO READ WITH THE FONT STYLE...YOU CHOSE FOR THIS ONE...SEEMS YOU DID A GOOD REPRESENTATION OF BABY STEPS IN THE LINES...AND THE ONE WORD USAGE WAS EFFECTIVE IN DISPLACING THE SCENE OF THIS VERSE...
