Sweet baby james

Sweet baby james

Sweet baby james

“The first of December

was covered with snow,

so was the turnpike

from Stockbridge to Boston…”

and my sweet baby james

played over and over again in my mind

from my second floor apartment

I was watering the propagation

of succulents,

wondering what Cape Cod looks like

in snow

wondering if your flat-bed ford

ever made it through

another winter

if the cold ever catches your breath

like that little black dress

I have on occasion taken lines from a favorite song and incorporated them into a poem. I hope you enjoy this one from James Taylor.

JT = a favorite of all time & this song is precious. I also love to write poetry around the ideas of songs I wish I'd written myself, so this is the next best thing, huh? You add the perfect touches to flesh it out in your own unique style (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Immediately came to mind James Taylor. Nice work Kelly, meandering thoughts doing light chores humming a tune it's almost therapeutic.

Love the ending. Contrasts a rough masculine machine vs a more sensual feminine organic caress
