Fear the Poet

they made you feel love 
your ego they stroked
as the devil convinced you 
addictions a joke

sanity dwindled 
pondering which vein to poke
whatever your pleasure 
be it meth, H or coke 

life ain’t worth living 
take one more toke 
but this time it’s different 
spreading like poison oak 

hearts racing-heads spinning
your conscious now woke
plead for new beginnings
this deal can’t be revoked

you danced with devil
concealed by black hooded cloak 
the fun is now over
hearts bleeding and broke 

tears pouring-shirt’s soaked
in a haze of hot smoke
lungs wheeze as you choke
on all those lies that you spoke 

knowing it’s over
no life left to live
holding onto a moment
one final thought left to give

for my loving children
recover I would
who am I kidding
wish they understood
