A Thimbleful of Seeds

A Thimbleful of Seeds

A Poem by Neville
"

This was originally going to be given the title 'Dokun' .... which consists of a pledge, an oath and creed... or 'Some Men Have Religion #2'......

"

A Thimbleful of Seeds

Some men have their faith

Some men have a way of life

I have a

Thimbleful of seeds

A fistful of weeds

A pledge an oath a creed

We call it Dokun

Some men reach for the moon

Some men clutch at straws

There are those I know

Who would gladly die

For what they most believe in

Love and life are my religion

And I would not hesitate

To die for those…………….

I think you are being kind... thanks... N
we have to be willing to die for what we believe in...if we are...then what we live for is worth it.

You have the best philosophical outlook on life and your religion is love! No wonder you have such a kind and understanding attitude towards all. Neville, it is a pleasure to read your mind and getting to know you.

This is one of the best ones of yours I’ve read so far. This is an amazing statement. I love the way you present alternative views that you seemingly disagree with, but not condemning or judging these other ways of approaching one’s beliefs. I love the title, so I’m glad you landed on that. I feel my faith is a thimble of seeds becuz I’ve studied a number of religions & spiritual followings over the years, gathering a little bit from here & from there, the things that make sense. I just never had a name for it & some tend to think I have no faith becuz I don’t follow some recognizable norm. This is a brilliant piece of writing, nicely persuasive, albeit with a “down-home” conversational tone. This gives people permission to follow the spiritual energy that resides in each/all of us, instead of following something dictated from the outside (((NUGS))) Fondly, Margie

“Love and life are my religion...”-inspiring line Neville and I stand with you on it. Your poem is strong and passionate and pure. “Dokun”, a new word you have taught me. Thank you for all.

My pleasure Annette and I thank you for the visit to this page and true..... Neville x
Words well spoken. Echoes my philosophy on life. Love of life and love of family will always keep my heart ticking, and I too would lay my life down for either if necessary. Great words Neville, a very meaningful write. When you are fighting for your life, that's when you start to understand your purpose in it.

Yes, we all need a cause.....You used a very striking image.....when we have that limitless resolve, we do not need enough to see us through any hardship......we will storm any challenge with a mere thimbleful :)

Great poetry.
